Sue Miner

Versed in both classical text and new works Sue Miner has been developing a unique approach to theatre as an avenue for dynamic story-telling. A graduate of The National Theatre School’s acting section in 1983, Sue is both a freelance director and co-artistic director of Pea Green Theatre Group with her husband Mark Brownell. Her work with the Pea Green includes Medici Slot Machine, Monsieur d'Eon is a Woman, Playballs, The Blue Wall and Dave Carley’s Orchidelerium for Pea Green Productions/Theatre Voce.

Most recently Sue directed Love You Forever... and More Munsch at LKTYP, Bella Donna at CanStage/Berkeley, Conservatives in Love and Celine Speaks at the Fringe of Toronto, Sexy Laundry for Theatre Aquarius, Real Estate for Theatre Aquarius and Arthur Schnitzler’s The Affairs of Anatol for Glastonbury West. Other notable productions include Women Beware Women (Theatre Erindale), Sunday in the Park with George (George Brown/Equity Showcase), Titus Andronicus and Measure for Measure (Shakespeare in the Rough), Big Head Goes to Bed (Night Kitchen) and James O’Reilly’s WORK.

Sue has directed many Theatre For Young Audience shows including shows for Puppetmongers, Theatre Direct Canada and Carousel Players. Sue has garnered several Dora nominations, been thrice nominated for Pauline McGibbon Award for body of work in directing and was touted as one of Toronto’s Top-10 theatre artists by NOW Magazine. She has participated in the Tapestry New Opera Works Director's Lab and the Director’s Masterclass at the World Stage Festival. Sue also teaches at George Brown Theatre School, Sheridan and Theatre Ontario.



Mark Brownell

Mark Brownell

Mark Brownell is a Toronto-based playwright and co-artistic director of the Pea Green Theatre Group with his wife and partner Sue Miner.

Awards: Nominated for a Governor General's Literary Award for his play, Monsieur d'Eon. He also received a Dora Mavor Moore Award for his libretto Iron Road and a Dora Mavor Moore Award Nomination for Medici Slot Machine.

Other award-winning work includes The Martha Stewart Projects, Playballs, High Sticking - Three Period Plays, The Chevalier St. George, The Storyteller’s Bag and The Weaving Maiden.
